What are the signs that electrode pads need replacing on Primedic HeartSave Y Semi and YA Fully Automatic Defibrillators?

Primedic defibrillators regularly self-test for functionality. So, if a problem occurs with the electrode pads or batteries, it will show on the display. For Primedic HeartSave Y Semi-Automatic and Fully-Automatic defibrillators, electrode pads need replacing if they are past their expiry date or if the packaging is damaged or opened. It’s important to regularly inspect the pads for physical wear and to check the expiration date so the defibrillator is always ready for use. Worn or out-of-date electrode pads may not conduct a shock effectively during an emergency. At defibshop, we offer a free battery and pad reminder service which will notify you when your electrode pads are due to be replaced.

How long do Primedic pads last?

The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads have a shelf life of up to 3 years, and once expired, the defibrillator's effectiveness may be compromised. Regularly checking the physical condition and the expiration date ensures optimal performance at all times. Electrode pads must also be replaced after every use, as the adhesive gel and electrical conductivity can degrade after being applied, even in non-shock situations. By following these maintenance practices, you can ensure that your defibrillator remains reliable and ready in response to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

How long do Primedic defibrillator batteries last?

Primedic HeartSave batteries provide different shelf lives depending on the model. The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Li-ion Battery has a battery life of up to 5 years, providing a minimum of 150 shocks. Primedic also offers a HeartSave Battery 6 Year which has a shelf life of 6 years.

Can I use the same electrode pads for adults and children?

The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are designed for use on both adults and children. To be safe, always check the specific instructions for the pads and defibrillator model, as not all pads can be used on both adults and children. The Primedic HeartSave Pads PreConnect and Primedic HeartSavePads Set can also be used on adults and children, but require the defibrillator to be set in paediatric mode when used on children under eight years old or who weigh less than 55 pounds (25 kg).
