What is the Primecic HeartSave SavePads Set?

The Primedic HeartSave SavePads Set are electrode pads for the Primedic HeartSave 1st and 2nd generation defibrillators. These pre-connected electrode pads are crucial for delivering a lifesaving electrical shock to the heart during Sudden Cardiac Arrest, helping restore normal heart rhythm quickly and effectively. A 2 pin cable, a razor, gloves and a breathing mask are included in the package, along with clear instructional diagrams to help the responder with pad application.

Can the Primedic HeartSave Pads Set be used on children?

Yes, the Primedic HeartSave Pads Set can be used on adults and paediatrics with correct pad placement and when the defibrillator is switched to the correct mode.

The Primedic HeartSave Pads are compatible with the Primedic HeartSave series, allowing the responder to easily switch between “Child Mode” and “Adult Mode” depending on the casualty. For casualties over 8 years old or weighing more than 25kg, the defibrillator should be set to “Adult Mode.” For those under 8 years old or weighing less than 25kg, “Child Mode” should be selected to ensure safe and effective defibrillation for paediatric use.

How do I set up the Primedic HeartSave SavePads for use?

To set up the Primedic HeartSave SavePads for use, first remove them from the protective foil packaging. The back of each pad includes clear illustrations with instructions on proper placement on the patient’s bare chest. Consider shaving the casualty's chest area if needed to ensure the adhesion of the pads. After the pads are applied, the device will automatically begin analysing the heart rhythm. The defibrillation will only deliver a shock if it detects ventricular fibrillation (VF) or ventricular tachycardia (VT). Follow the defibrillator prompts for further instructions until emergency services arrive.

Can I reuse the Primedic HeartSave SavePads?

No, Primedic HeartSave SavePads are for one-time use only and must be disposed of after use. Once the pads have been applied to the casualty's skin and used during defibrillation, they must be discarded to ensure defibrillator reliability. Electrode pads must be replaced after each use, as the adhesive gel and electrical conductivity can degrade once they have been applied, even if no shock is delivered. Automated External Defibrillator pads have a set expiration date due to the conductive gel, which can deteriorate over time. Replacing the pads after use and checking the expiry dates ensures the defibrillator remains ready for emergencies.
