What is the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic AED?
The Defibtech Lifeline AUTO is a fully-automatic defibrillator designed to provide life-saving treatment in a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). It uses advanced technology to deliver a shock automatically in an SCA where a shockable heart rhythm is detected. This means it requires less input from the user, making it suitable and straightforward to use for both experienced responders and untrained bystanders.
What does the ‘5 Year’ refer to with the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic?
The ‘5-Year’ in the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic refers to the operational lifespan of the battery, when left on standby. This indicates that the battery is designed to power the device daily (including regular self-tests) for up to five years before a replacement is needed.
It’s important to order a replacement battery before this time to avoid having to remove your defibrillator from service while waiting for its arrival. Sign up for our free battery and pad reminder service to receive monthly emails in the lead-up to your expiry dates to help you get organised.
Who is the 5-Year Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic AED designed for?
The Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic (5 Year) model is suitable for anyone, regardless of their level of training. It offers a portable, lightweight design with a vibrant yellow casing for visibility, with clear buttons and voice prompts to aid use. Rubberised sides provide protection against drops and impacts, while a built-in carry handle enables smooth transportation in an emergency.
What maintenance is required for the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic?
Like most defibrillators, the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic requires regular maintenance. This includes replacing the electrode pads after each use (or before expiry if left unused), and replacing the battery before it reaches the end of its lifespan (or in the event a self-test identifies a fault). Good maintenance also involves regular cleaning to prevent dirt or bacteria build-up over time, and checking the status indicator regularly to ensure the device is ready for use. How do I use the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic in an emergency?
To use the Defibtech Lifeline AUTO Fully Automatic in an emergency, follow these steps:
- Turn on your Defibtech Lifeline AUTO, pressing the ‘ON’ button to change it from standby to active.
- Start CPR, placing your hands interlocked in the centre of the casualty’s chest and press down to a depth of 5-6cm, allowing the chest to return upwards in between. Aim for 120 chest compressions per minute, following the audible guidance from your defibrillator to achieve the correct rate.
- Remove the electrode pads from the packaging and place on the casualty’s bare chest as shown in the images on the packaging/as instructed by your Defibtech Lifeline.
- Move back and allow the defibrillator to analyse the casualty’s heart rhythm, ensuring you are not in contact with them at this time.
- Wait for a shock to be delivered automatically if this is determined necessary by the defibrillator, following the instructions from your device from here until emergency help arrives.
