How to Replace Your iPAD SP1 Defibrillator Battery in 2 Simple Steps

Defibrillators are powered by a battery pack, which provides an essential power supply. This component ensures the defibrillator can deliver lifesaving shocks when needed.

Regular checks and maintenance should be performed to ensure the defibrillator remains fully functional and ready for use in an emergency.

Batteries and pads have expiration dates, requiring timely replacement. Once they have reached expiration, the defibrillator's effectiveness in an emergency is compromised. Checking the expiration dates and following routine maintenance ensures optimal performance of the defibrillator.

Routine Checks and Maintenance

The iPAD SP1 defibrillator regularly self-checks for functionality, ensuring all components function properly. These automatic diagnostics help verify the device is ready for use at any time. During Sudden Cardiac Arrest, timely action is crucial and any delays can hinder the resuscitation process.

It’s important to supplement these self-checks with routine manual inspections to confirm that the battery and electrode pads are in good condition.

Signs that the battery needs changing include:

  • Failing self-checks
  • Low battery indicator lights
  • Decreased performance during tests
  • Battery nearing or past its expiration date

iPAD SP1 Defibrillator Battery Compatibility

The iPAD SP1 Semi-Automatic and Fully Automatic defibrillators include the CU Medical Systems iPAD SP1 Disposable Li-ion Battery, ensuring the defibrillator can deliver lifesaving treatment at any time of the day.

Since defibrillator batteries expire and deplete over time, it’s recommended to have an extra battery. This ensures your defibrillator is never without a power supply in case of a battery failure or malfunction.

We offer a free battery and pad reminder service, alerting you 3 months before expiry. Set up an account with defibshop and we will make sure to remind you when your pads and batteries need replacing.

How to Replace the iPAD SP1 Defibrillator

To replace the battery in an iPAD SP1 defibrillator, follow these steps:

1. Remove the old battery and replace it with the new one

Locate the battery compartment on the back of the back of the defibrillator.

Carefully open the compartment and remove the old battery.

Install the new battery ensuring it is properly in place.

2. Check the battery is working

Check the battery is working properly. Inserting the battery will then instigate a self-test. Allow the defibrillator to complete the self-test to ensure all systems function properly and the battery is correctly installed.

Carefully dispose of the expired battery by finding your nearest recycling location or contacting your local council.

Following these steps ensures your defibrillator is successfully powered and can provide lifesaving treatment during critical moments. For further guidance and operation information, see the iPAD SP1 Instructions for Use guide.
