How are Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads different from adult defibrillation pads?

Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads differ from adult pads in size, energy level, weight and age guidelines. These pads are compatible with the Lifepak 15 defibrillator and are suitable for children aged between one and eight years old who weigh less than 25 kg. For children who are older and/or weigh more than this, Lifepak Adult Pads should be used, which can be purchased in a bundle directly from defibshop.

Where do you place Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads on a child?

When responding to an infant in Sudden Cardiac Arrest, the Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads should be placed securely with one pad on the front of the chest and the other on the back of the chest. For older children, one pad should be placed on the upper right chest just below the collarbone and one on the lower left side, below the armpit and slightly below the nipple line. For proper and safe placement, refer to the instructional diagrams on the packaging of the Physio-Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads.

Are Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads suitable for all children?

No, the Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads are only suitable for children aged between one and eight years old who weigh less than 25 kg. They work by delivering a lower joule output that is suitable for the smaller frame of a child. If treatment is needed for an older child above the age of eight and/or one who weighs more than 25 kg, adult defibrillator pads should be used in treatment.

Can Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads be reused?

No, the Physio Control Lifepak 15 Paediatric Pads are designed to be single-use, and therefore, cannot be reused. They should be used and discarded as medical waste immediately and replaced with new pads. Unopened and unused, these pads have a lifespan of up to one year, as depicted by the expiration date which is printed on the packaging. If unused, these pads should be disposed of prior to the expiration date. You can find more information on how to safely dispose of defibrillator pads directly on the defibshop website.
