The Philips FR3 SMART Pads have a shelf life of approximately two years, should be used only in the event of an emergency, and discarded immediately. It is a good idea to have spare electrode pads in case of an emergency, hence defibshop sells these pads in a five-set bundle.

How do I use Philips FR3 SMART Pads III?
These pads are used differently, depending on who you are treating. When responding to an adult, the pads are placed on the upper right and lower left sides of the chest. When responding to a child the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key must be connected to the AED. In response, one pad is placed on the front of the chest and the other on the back of the chest.
To use the Philips FR3 SMART Pads III, remove them from their protective packaging, peel off the adhesive, and place them on the patient. The FR3 AED will analyse the patient's heart rhythm using SMART technology, you will then be guided through your response with clear visual and audible prompts.
