Key Features

- Ensures the joule output provided by the device is reduced to a safe level for use on children
- Allows you to be rescue ready at all times for both adult and paediatric patients
Designed specifically for use with the Philips FR3 defibrillator, this FR3 Infant / Child Key ensures your defibrillator is always rescue ready in the event of a child suffering a cardiac arrest.
Once inserted into the defibrillator, the FR3 child key ensures that the defibrillator provides a safer and more secure level of treatment by reducing the joule output created to that of which is suitable to a child.

What is the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key?
The Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key is an accessory designed for use with the Philips FR3 defibrillator. The key is used to switch the device into paediatric mode, for use when treating a patient aged 1-8 and who weighs less than 25 kg. The key adjusts the energy level and CPR guidance given by the AED to better suit the needs of a young child. When treating an adult or someone above the age of 8 who weighs more than 25 kg, use your AED as normal without the key.
Why is the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key pink?
The Philips FR3 Infant/ Child Key is pink to make it easily recognisable as a paediatric accessory and allows rescuers to quickly identify the key when needed in an emergency.
How do I use the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key?
The Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key is designed to be user-friendly and simple to use no matter your medical experience. Simply insert the key into the labelled slot on the FR3 AED and turn it clockwise to switch the device into paediatric mode. This will provide a reduced energy shock and CPR guidance that is suitable for children aged 1-8 who weigh less than 25 kg. You should use this key in combination with the FR3 SMART Pads III which can be used for both adults and children.
How does the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key work?
Combined with the use of paediatric pads or SMART Pads, the Philips FR3 Infant / Child Key works by reducing the energy output of the FR3 defibrillator suitable for a child aged 1-8 and weighing less than 25 kg. The CPR guidance will also change to reflect the difference in technique and chest compression depth needed in response to a child in Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
