What is included in the Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle?
The Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle contains one set of Adult and one set of Infant/Child Paediatric defibrillator pads. The electrode pads are fully-connected, meaning they come pre-attached to the device’s cartridge via integrated cables, eliminating the need to manually connect wires during an emergency. This design feature helps save valuable time, allowing responders to focus on pad placement rather than setup tasks. The sticky adhesive backing ensures the pads stick securely to the casualty’s skin, enabling precise positioning. Once the cartridge is loaded into your Philips HS1 defibrillator, the device automatically detects the pads, confirming that they are connected correctly and ready for use.
What are Philips HS1 Paediatric Pads?
Philips HS1 Paediatric Pads are defibrillator pads designed specifically for use on casualties weighing less than 25kg and between 1-8 years old. When inserted into the Philips HS1, the device recognises these specific pads, reducing the energy level accordingly for enhanced safety. You will also need to insert the Child/Infant Key (purchased separately). The pads should only be used as specified, and are normally placed one on the front of the chest and one on the back (as shown on the packaging).
How do I know when to switch between Adult and Paediatric Pads with my Philips Heartstart HS1?
The Paediatric pads should be used for smaller infants or children who weigh less than 25kg, or between 1-8 years of age. Having the Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle saves valuable time in a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) emergency, allowing you to administer treatment to any casualty confidently.
Are the Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pads suitable for untrained responders?
Yes. The Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle is designed for use by both trained and untrained responders, offering clear visual guidance to support confident action during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).The packaging displays clear, bold images for correct placement, while the protective seal keeps the pads clean and ready for use. To use either pads from the Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle, remove it from the packaging and place it on the casualty’s chest as shown in the image, ensuring the skin is clean and dry. Make sure the wires are properly connected, and then follow the instructions on your Philips Heartstart HS1.
How should I store the Philips HS1 Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle?
Philips recommends storing your Adult and Paediatric pads in a safe environment between 0-50°C. It’s also recommended to store a spare set of pads near your Philips HS1 defibrillator in the event your primary set becomes damaged or ineffective in an emergency.
