Defibtech Defibrillator Maintenance Overview
Importance of maintenance
In an SCA, chances of survival decrease by 10% for every minute without treatment. Maintaining your Defibtech Lifeline AED is important when delivering the life-saving care it is made for, and avoid time-consuming issues. Proper maintenance also helps protect your device in the long-term, and ensure it is clean, fully-stocked and ready for use.
Tips for Maintenance
To help maintain your Defibtech Lifeline defibrillator, we have provided some helpful tips for:
- Visual inspections: The Defibtech Lifeline range performs daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests automatically. These tests check the pads, battery and internal systems to ensure everything is in optimal condition. Alongside these tests, make sure to visually inspect your device on a regular basis to spot any signs of wear or device issues. Any issues are communicated to you via the readiness indicator, or screen depending on your model, along with audible alerts.
- Battery health checks: Defibtech Lifeline AEDs all use a non-rechargeable battery pack, which needs replacing once expired. Ensure frequent inspections of the battery to confirm it is functioning correctly and address any status issues immediately.
- Updating software: As technology in the field improves, so does the life-saving capability of your Defibtech AED. Annual servicing performed by a qualified technician helps check your device is equipped with the latest technology available. - Regular cleaning: Cleaning your device regularly whether or not it has been used also ensures effective maintenance. It protects your device from damage and keeps the exterior free from dust or debris. Use a mild soap and water to carefully clean your device, ensuring it is not submerged in water to avoid damage.
Recommended Maintenance Schedule
To simply maintenance with your Defibtech defibrillator, practice the following maintenance schedule:
Daily: Confirm the readiness indicator is flashing on your device and the battery is working normally.
Weekly: Remove the pads from the cartridge and check the wires are properly connected. Check the date on the pad packaging to make sure they have not passed their expiry date.
Monthly: Take your Defibtech AED out of storage and conduct a full visual inspection to ensure all necessary components are present.
Annually: Get an annual service through defibshop, including a full inspection from a trained technician.
