When treating a patient who is younger than eight and weighs less than 25kg, paediatric pads must be used. 

How do I apply the Philips HeartStart FRx SMART Pads II in response?

When responding to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, the Philips HeartStart FRx SMART Pads II are designed to be simple to use for any skill level. Follow these instructions in response:

Turn on the defibrillator and it will begin giving audible instructions to connect the pads.
Remove any clothing from the patient's chest to expose bare skin. The skin must be dry and clea
Remove the SMART Pads from their protective packaging.
Position the pads on the patient's chest, as indicated by the visual prompts on the pads.
Press the pads down, making sure they are secure.
Stand clear of the patient as the defibrillator analyses the heart rhythm.
Follow the visual and voice prompts on the defibrillator to carry out the response.
