Which defibrillators are compatible with the Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads?
The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are compatible with the Primedic HeartSave Y (Semi-Automatic) and HeartSave YA (Fully-Automatic) defibrillators. These pads are designed for use on both adults and children (aged 1-8 years and under 25kg or 55 lbs) by simply switching the defibrillator to paediatric mode. They come pre-connected to save valuable time during SCA and are housed in protective foil to ensure cleanliness and functionality until use.
How long is the pad life of the Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads?
The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult / Paediatric Electrode Pads have a pad life of up to 3 years. To ensure your defibrillator is ready for use during a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, it’s important to regularly check the expiration date printed on the packaging.
Expired pads may not function properly, potentially compromising the defibrillator’s ability to deliver an effective shock during an emergency. Electrode pads are single-use, requiring replacement after each use, even if no shock was delivered. The adhesive gel used to attach the pads loses effectiveness once exposed. You should replace the pads if the packaging is damaged or shows signs of wear. This can lead to deterioration in pad conductivity and adhesive properties. That’s why we always recommend having a spare set of pads.
How do I switch between adult and paediatric modes when using the Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads?
The Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Paediatric Electrode Pads are designed for use on both adults and children without the need to switch pads. This saves vital time when responding to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Usually, you would be required to change the pads to a lower Joule outfit for paediatrics, whereas the Primedic HeartSave Y & YA Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads can be used on both adults and children.
