What is the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin?
Brayden’s OBI Basic CPR Manikin is designed to help all responders enhance their confidence performing life-saving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The torso is anatomically correct with clear landmarks to facilitate correct hand positioning, while disposable airways allow the chest to rise realistically in response to treatment.
How do I practice CPR using the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin?
To practice CPR using the Brayden OBI Basic CPR training manikin, follow these steps:
- Gently lift the manikin’s chin to open the airways.
- Place both hands interlocked at the centre of the chest, and push down hard in rapid compressions (5-6cm deep).
- Deliver 2 rescue breaths after every 30 chest compressions by placing your mouth over the manikin’s and blowing steadily. Watch for the manikin’s chest rising.
- Continue performing chest compressions, aiming for 100-120 per minute until the manikin shows visible signs of breathing.
What maintenance is required for the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin?
The Brayden OBI Basic CPR first aid manikin requires little maintenance, with only the disposable lungs and airways to replace. This needs to be done after each use so that manikin is able to simulate realistic breathing during training sessions to help guide learners. Airways also need to be replaced for hygiene purposes once the valve responsible for redirecting expired air becomes ineffective.
What else do I need to practice CPR using the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin?
Here are a few helpful items to have on hand when practising CPR using the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin:
- Face shields - to reduce the spread of germs during rescue breathing practice.
- Manikin wipes - to wipe down exterior surfaces of the training manikin after each session.
- Disposable lungs - to replace the airways and prepare the manikin for its next use.
- Defibrillator training pads - to practise pad placement when preparing a casualty for defibrillation.
- Defibrillator training unit - to simulate the defibrillation stage of response and familiarise trainees with key features.
How long does the Brayden OBI Basic CPR Manikin last?
Brayden’s OBI Basic CPR Manikin is designed to endure rigorous repeated usage, allowing everyone to benefit from realistic CPR training. Its durable design is intended to withstand hundreds of thousands of chest compressions, enabling responders to practice performing CPR more confidently.
