Defibshop earns top health and safety accreditation

On the back of retaining our Investors in People – Bronze award, defibshop is proud to announce that we have been awarded a ‘Safecontractor Approved’ accolade.
Safecontractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management amongst UK contractors and businesses.
Employing over 20 people in-house and with 200 first aid trainer’s nationwide, defibshop - as part of the imperative training umbrella, specialises in the supplying of defibrillators and first aid and AED training.
defibshop Chief Executive David Howarth said; “We’re thrilled to have been awarded this Top Safety Accreditation from Safecontractor.
“To be recognised for our commitment to maintaining a high-standard of health and safety for our employees is extremely flattering and one that we’re very proud to have been awarded.
“We invest in our employees and our success is a result of our attention to detail, passion and ability to provide world-class training all of which would not be possible without the commitment and hard work of our team.”
The Safecontractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor said, "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place."
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that imperative training has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
So, how did defibshop earn the award? Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.
The award is applicable to most industry sectors, however it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contracted services.
