What are the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads?
The Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are a set of electrode pads that come pre-connected for the convenience of the responder. They are suitable for use on both adults and children, and come sealed in a protective packaging until ready for use. Clear diagrams on each pad assist the responder in placing them correctly on the casualty’s chest.
Which defibrillators are the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads compatible with?
The Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are compatible with any HeartSave myPAD defibrillator in the range. This includes both semi and automatic models, and both Core and Connect specifications. Note that these electrode pads are not suitable for any other Primedic defibrillators other than the HeartSave myPAD.
How long do the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads last?
Unlike most electrode pads offering a two-year expiry, Primedic’s HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads offer a five-year expiry date. This means they can be left unused alongside your defibrillator for up to three years longer than standard, before the adhesive coating dries out and becomes ineffective. It’s important to replace the pads before they reach this expiry date to ensure your Primedic HeartSave myPAD always remains ready for use. To help keep on top of replacements, discover our free battery and pad reminder service at defibshop.
How to use the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads
To use the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads in an emergency, follow these steps:
-
Remove the electrode pads from the foil packaging, making sure the wires are connected to the HeartSave myPAD defibrillator.
-
Place the pads on the casualty’s chest as shown in the images on the packaging (or on the screen) ensuring the skin is clean and dry. Note that these will be placed differently on adults and children. If performing defibrillation on a child, make sure to press the Child button on the device.
-
Allow the HeartSave myPAD to analyse the casualty’s heart rhythm. Make sure you are not touching the chest at this time.
-
If a shockable heart rhythm is detected, you’ll press the shock button when instructed (unless using a fully-automatic HeartSave myPAD).
The Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are single-use only, and will need to be replaced with a new set after each use to ensure your defibrillator is ready for the next emergency.
Can the Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads be used on children?
Yes. The Primedic HeartSave myPAD Adult/Paediatric Electrode Pads are suitable for use on both adults and children. This is due to the Child button fitted on the HeartSave myPAD defibrillator, which, when pressed, safely reduces the energy output for defibrillating children. This removes the need to purchase and store separate paediatric pads, as with other defibrillators, reducing costs while increasing convenience in an emergency.
