Founded in the United States since 1999, Defibtech have been a leading innovator in the field of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) producing the world-renowned line of Lifeline defibrillators.

Designed for simplicity, Lifeline defibrillators boast a fully integrated design and a rubber trim, making the device compact and easy to transport.

The further development of the Lifeline ECG and PRO enables Defibtech to cater for medical professionals as well as business investors.

Without a defibrillator, your environment is not heart safe. Delivering treatment within 3-5 minutes of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest taking place increases their survival from 6% to 74%. Delaying treatment decreases the chance of survival by 10% for every minute that goes by without treatment.

Why do electrode pads need replacing?

Electrode pads have a shelf life of 1-5 years depending on the make and model of your defibrillator.

If used beyond the expiration date, the gel covering the pads are likely to be ineffective in adhering to the skin to analyse the heart and deliver a shock if one is required.

Why does a defibrillator need a replacement battery?

Batteries have a shelf life of 2-7 years depending on the make and model of your defibrillator.

Batteries allow the unit to carry out regular self-tests to ensure your defibrillator remains in working order. Batteries also provide the power needed to deliver a potentially life-saving shock to a person in cardiac arrest.

What is the shelf-life of Defibtech AED electrode pads?

Defibtech AED electrode pads have a shelf-life of 18-24 months. Each set of pads has the expiration date printed on the pad package. Defibtech AED pads are single-use. Standard Defibtech lifeline AEDs come with 2 sets of pads to ensure you have a spare set.

What is the capacity of a Defibtech battery?

The capacity of each battery varies dependent on model.  The Defibtech Lifeline AED & Auto defibrillator has a high capacity battery pack, that is designed for high use operation, with up to 300 shocks or 16 hours of continuous operation. The standby life is up to 7 years. The battery for the Defibtech Lifeline View, ECG and Pro defibrillators has the capacity of up to 125 shocks or 8 hours of continuous operation. This battery replacement pack provides standby life of up to 4 years when installed.

Can you buy electrode pad bundles?

Yes, at defibshop we know the importance of always being ready in case of an emergency. We stock the Defibtech Lifeline AED Adult Defibrillation Pads Package (2 sets). Not only is this cost-effective for the buyer but as electrode pads are a one use only piece of equipment, a spare set would prepare you for any incidents that may occur. Accidents can happen and if the pads become dirty or damaged, this could affect the quality of treatment provided. A spare set of Defibtech Lifeline AED Adult Defibrillation Pads allow you to immediately replace the pads once they have been used, meaning your defibrillator remains rescue ready.

Are Defibtech’s AED electrode pads suitable for both adults and children?

Defibtech offers two separate electrode pad sets for adults and children under 8 years, and having both types of electrode pads is important. If you were ever in a situation where paediatric pads were not available for a child in cardiac arrest, adult pads should be used with altered placement. For a child, one pad is placed on the front and centre of the chest and the other on the back, adjacent to the front pad. At defibshop we stock the Defibtech Adult and Paediatric Pad Bundle, which comes with two sets of pads. If you have both sets of AED pads, it ensures you can respond to any cardiac emergency. The defibrillator recognises when paediatric pads are connected and lowers the joule voltage to output suitable for a child’s heart.

How do you know if the Defibtech battery needs replaced?

A visual and audible indicator of the unit status is displayed on the defibrillator. Both the general public and owner of the device is visually able to check the defibrillator and see the condition of the unit without having to examine it in great detail. The defibrillator guardian is responsible for the maintenance of the device. This includes knowing when to replace the pads and battery.
