The Beaming Light Foundation
In February, it was my absolute pleasure to donate a defibrillator to The Beaming Light Foundation, who are a UK charity operating primarily in the North East of England that provides practical help, food, housing support, and mentoring to homeless and vulnerable individuals.
I met with Craig Moreland, the driving force behind the foundation, whose belief in the work the foundation does was unwavering. Completely committed to helping less fortunate individuals who have fallen on hard times, Craig is regularly found out and about at all hours of the day and night, ensuring that there is food and shelter for all who need it.
When I visited, the weather was dreadful, it was cold, windy and throwing it down with rain, and Craig and the team were ready to go out after my visit - truly inspirational.
Our donation allows Craig and the team to have on hand, a defibrillator should the need arise. The unit was to be housed in the van they take out and about, allowing individuals to have a break from the streets, a cup of tea in the warm and a chat with the team to work out what support they need.
Craig and the team are all volunteers, and regularly run fundraising events alongside the day to day of supporting people.
It was an honour to be able to give the team the ability to help in saving lives with our defibrillator, although we truly hope
they will never have the need to use it.
