BHTA - British Healthcare Trades Association member

The BHTA is the UK’s largest dedicated healthcare association.

The BHTA represents large and small companies, organised in one or more of 13 sections covering most sectors of the industry. This unique sectional structure provides a platform for all companies to have an effective voice within BHTA and, through the Association, to influence the development of healthcare policies in the UK.

At the heart of our association is the Code of Practice which sets out the standards that all members must meet to demonstrate best practice in their business dealings. The Code of Practice is recognised as the UK industry standard and means that member companies trade ethically and professionally. The Code has achieved Stage One of the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) Consumer Codes Approval Scheme and we are providing evidence that the Code is working in practice to achieve the Stage Two approval.

ISO 9001 Quality Management Assurance

Possibly our proudest moment was achieving the internationally recognised ISO 9001 award in May 2007. This award contains eight quality management principles that act as a framework on which organizations can work towards improving performance.
We believe that this is very important and demonstrates our core commitment to our customers both inside and outside of the training room.

To maintain our ISO status we must hold monthly internal meetings to check performance along with annual externally verified audits of our systems so we must be doing something right!

ISO 14001 Environmental Quality Management Assurance

As part of our growth as a company, we recognised the need to monitor and assess our environmental impact and achieved ISO 14001 in September 2009, helping us to review and reduce this impact.

In real terms we have reduced our environmental impact and reviewed and improved the service to our customers by allowing them to:

1) Select the training day that suits them
2) Book and pay online
3) View our training course manuals online
4) Receive e-certificates securely and promptly after each course
5) Receive email reminders of certificate expiry so that certificates / qualifications do not lapse
6) Receive monthly first aid tips to all delegates to help reduce skill fade

We have reduced our carbon footprint further by increasing the number of trainers within our company so that we only need use trainers and assessors local to the client, wherever they are in the UK.

This is why we don’t need to charge expenses like other training organisations as we aren’t sending training staff all over the country!

To maintain our ISO status we must hold monthly internal meetings to check performance along with six monthly annual externally verified audits of our systems.

CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) Approved Centre

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health is a professional, awarding and campaigning body at the forefront of environmental and public health and safety. It sets standards, accredits courses and qualifications for the education of members and other environmental health practitioners.

As a CIEH approved centre we are able to provide nationally recognised and accredited health & safety courses, our most popular being food hygiene and manual handling.

These courses help to increase your staff’s feeling of wellbeing and safety and help develop workplace skills and best practice.

City & Guilds Approved Centre

City & Guilds is one of the longest established and well recognised names in vocational learning.
C & G work in partnership with us as a centre allowing us to offer qualifications and create our own delivery methods, course syllabuses and in-house verification.

They then maintain quality standards in relation to assessment, monitor implementation of qualifications, assess our centre and issue certificates to successful learners. We believe this is a partnership with illustrates our determination to provide the highest quality workplace qualifications

Investors in People

Investors in People is all about business improvement. We have achieved this award through targeting our chosen business priorities and working towards them in conjunction with Investors in People.

Our customers greatly value this award as it is the independently assessed, leading management benchmark of business improvement and once again shows our commitment to our customers but also to our own staff.

HSE first aid training approval

If a company wants to teach first aid in the workplace in the UK they need approval from the HSE (Health & Safety Executive) to do so. We achieved approval back in May 2005 by meeting the high standards imposed by the First Aid Approval and Monitoring Section (FAAMS) of HSE's Corporate Medical Unit.

The approval process looks at the efficiency of our administrative systems, the qualifications and experience of our trainers and assessors and the standards of our first aid practice.

Our course syllabus, lesson plans, training equipment and assessment procedures all meet the stringent requirements of the HSE.

CPD Certified

CPD – Continuing Personal or Professional Development - is the term that describes a commitment to structured skills enhancement and personal or professional competence.

The CPD Certification Service helps organisations provide certified CPD and acts as a point of contact for those seeking to obtain certified CPD material. It supports further learning initiatives being undertaken by government, professional institutions, trade associations, individual organisations, training providers, suppliers and so on. All our courses have been externally CPD verified.

Edexcel

Our Edexcel centre approval allows us to train any number of BTEC qualifications particularly the Level 4 PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) train the trainer course that our company offers.
