As we get asked about our batteries and chargers all the time, we thought to make things easier for; we would answer some of our most frequently asked questions.
What is the lifespan of a defibrillator battery?
Unfortunately we can’t give you a solid life cycle of a defibrillator battery as there are many determining factors which include:
- Defibrillator make and model – different units require different amounts of power to keep them running and rescue ready for that all important moment when you need to use it.
- Usage – if you have had to use your defibrillator, obviously this will drain more battery power than if your unit has not been used. If this is the case, battery power will most likely only be drained should the unit perform self checks.
- Varying battery expiry dates – different manufacturers use different batteries for their units and have various expiry dates. We recommend having a spare battery on hand just in case you are not aware of the expiry date and that you will always have a full one ready to go.
Battery reminder service
When you purchase a defibrillator from us, you can register to have both battery and defibrillator pad reminders sent to you via email. This is a great benefit as you don’t have to worry about when your equipment is expiring instead we’ll tell you and let you know what new products you need to make sure your defibrillator is rescue ready at all times.
Do you sell rechargeable batteries?
We do sell rechargeable battery units however these are mainly functional for the professional grade defibrillators we sell.
But a small number of defibrillators (including the Philips FR3) have battery chargers available so that you never have to buy another battery for the unit.
