defibs for sport
We all know that sport can be a dangerous activity in itself, especially when the activity places strain on the heart.
Football
Heart problems are the most common cause of sudden death in professional footballers, and several have died from cardiac arrest in recent years.
Antonio Puerta: The 22 year old Sevilla full-back collapsed last summer during a Spanish league game against Getafe. He suffered a cardiac arrest, due to a weak right ventricle, that led to failure of his vital organs.
Marc-Vivien Foe: The 28 year old Manchester City midfielder collapsed and died from a cardiac arrest while playing for his country, Cameroon, at the 2003 Confederations Cup in France
Phil O’Donnell: The 35-year-old Motherwell captain collapsed to the ground with heart failure 12 minutes before the end of a Scottish Premier League match against Dundee United

Golf
I suppose Cardiac Hill is named for a reason!
The golf course is fertile ground for death by heart failure. Sudden cardiac arrest is the No. 1 cause of death on the golf course. Because of its size, often remote location and poor accessibility, a golf course is usually one of the worst places to be when your heart stops.
Why are golfers at such high risk? Dr. Edward A. Palank, a cardiologist in Naples, Florida., cites three reasons:
* The age of the average golfer correlates with the population most at risk. (The average age of a sudden-cardiac- arrest victim is 65, though many who are stricken are in their 30s and 40s.)
* Heart attacks are most likely to occur between 6 and 11 a.m., precisely when most golfers are out on the course.
* Golfers spend from four to six hours a day on the course, often several times a week, which simply means, says Palank, "Things are going to happen."
Palank stresses that there is nothing inherently dangerous about golf; many studies have shown the varied health benefits the game provides.
Tennis
Montcourt, 24, who was 119 in the ATP world rankings, was found outside his flat near Paris after spending the evening at the home of Patrice Dominguez, technical director of the French Tennis Federation.Patrice Dominguez had said that Montcourt, who lived near his house and was a frequent visitor, had not appeared to be suffering any problems and had spent a quiet evening watching a film.
Many people assume that sudden cardiac arrest only affects people who are old, overweight, or unfit but in reality there are many cases each year of young, fit people who have shown no signs of any health problems dying from sudden cardiac arrest.
Our comprehensive range of defibrillators ensures we can offer your sporting facility a defibrillator which meets your need for a portable, lightweight, rugged and waterproof defibrillator which can be carried around and used whenever or wherever it is needed, indoors or outdoors.
