Pads need to be applied once the unit is switched on. The clear English accented voice prompts should be followed along with text messages on the LCD screen. A yellow status indicator shows whether the pads are connected or not and when stored a green light on the unit blinks to reassure the user that the unit is operationally ready. The unit regularly self checks to ensure readiness, this occurs upon inserting a battery, when the unit is switched on and automatically every week. Upon pressing the shock button the AED delivers a multipulse biphasic waveform which means successful defibrillation only requires about 1/3 of the energy which would be needed using a monophasic pulse.. This energy is set to a default of 90, 130 & 150 J (adult) and 15, 30, & 50 J (paediatric) The AED can deliver up to 200 shocks from its non rechargable Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery (5 year standby) The optional plug in memory card is capable of recording up to 500 events, 30 minutes of ECG and 30 minutes of sound. The data can be transferred to a PC or Laptop using Schillers card reader software You know you need a defibrillator(s) but you may not have considered how you are going to pay for it yet?
