As easy as 1-2-3 in an emergency the clear and calm voice prompts guide the user through all aspects of the rescue procedure even reminding your to call for the emergency services and it features a blue i-button which activates Heartstart CPR coaching for assistance with CPR. Upon pressing the orange flashing shock button the unit delivers a truncated exponential biphasic waveform. The SMART Pads II are preconnected and can be used on either adults or infants thuse saving money on additional pad expenditure. Simply plug in the Infant/child key. The energy level is nominally fixed at 150 J (Adult) and 50 J (paediatric) however this will vary depending on the patient impedence. The Heartstart FRx is capable of delivering a minimum of 200 shocks from its non-rechargeable Lithium Manganese Dioxide Battery.The unit stores the first 15 minutes of ECG and the entire incidents events and analysis decisions. Data can be tranaferred wirelessly to a PC or palmOne PDA using the IrDA protocol. The Heartstart FRx performs automatic daily self tests and self tests when the unit is switched on these tests include internal circuitry, pads cartridge and battery capacity and pad integrety. A blinking green "Ready" light means the unit has passed its last self test so is ready for use.
